United Christian Church Statement of Beliefs
We believe in the Triune God existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is creator and ruler of all things.
- Matthew 28:19
We believe Jesus is the Son of God, coequal with the Father and Holy Spirit. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sin, rose from the dead, and ascended to Heaven as Savior and Lord. He alone is able to offer salvation. He will return someday to set up His Kingdom.
- 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
- John 14:6
We believe in the Holy Spirit, coequal with the Father and the Son. He indwells all those who have placed their faith in Christ. He equips every believer with spiritual gifts and transforms us into the image of Christ. He convicts people of sin and guides into righteousness.
- Acts 1:8
We believe the Bible as the inspired Word of God. It is the rule of faith and practice for Christians. The Bible provides us the will of God and the authority of Jesus Christ.
- 2 Timothy 3:16,17
We believe all people to be created in the image of God, (Imago Dei). God created them male and female to reflect His image. Each person should be loved, nurtured and developed. All people are marred by sin, a disobedience to God. Sin thus separates us from God. Yet God in His mercy offers redemption and restoration thru His Son Jesus.
- Genesis 1:27
- 1 Peter 3:18
We believe salvation is God’s gift of grace to those who receive it. By trusting in Jesus and what He did for us on the cross, one can be reconciled unto to God. Eternal and abundant life begins the moment one repents from our own way of life and receives Christ as Lord.
- Ephesians 2:8,9
- John 1:12
We believe in the Holy Ordinance of Baptism. Jesus taught in the Great Commission to go and make disciples, baptizing them. Once we have received Christ as Lord and Savior we should declare our faith in a step of obedience, being baptized as Jesus was so baptized.
- Matthew 28:19,20
We believe in the Holy Ordinance of Communion. The first church celebrated communion with the breaking of bread and drinking of the cup to remember the sacrifice Jesus offered at the cross. A person should examine their heart before taking communion.
- Matthew 26:26-28
